These lecture notes and handouts are not (all) my own original work. Many of my handouts are revised versions of those produced by previous University Lecturers in Phonetics, Bruce Connell, Ian Watson and Tony Bladon. Of course, I've amended them to suit the focus of my lectures, but as the courses change only slowly with the years, the handouts change slowly also. For other material, I've borrowed from the lecture notes I had as a student, from my phonetics teacher John Kelly. For these HTML pages, I've added photos, movie clips and other bits and pieces collected over the internet. I've tried not to tread on anyone's sensitivities in doing so, but where I have failed, I apologize.
